I would personally always go for a brand like Kenwood, Pioneer etc etc. You'll get up to date support, firmware, maps etc with out any hassles and good user support on forums lke this. I'm sure you'll find a good second hand one for sensible money on ebay, like any of the DNX range for example that have sat nav, dvd, mp3 etc etc

We got a DNX8220BT from ebay and it is awesome, nav, phone, ipod, everything.

I understand that, would always agree, just that at mo I can afford to buy one of these cheeper ones, even if it only lasts 6-12 months, then have money to upgrade, will it do the job?

for 6 - 12 months, yes, but then, aen't just making a nice kenwood £199 more expensive?

I can see the appeal, but i think it comes down to the budget available, and the reliability of the dealer. Can they show you it working? Are they UK based?

just had a look through the listing and it does o a few things, but things like the contact phone book over bluetooth isn't supported, so you'll end up having to prod at the phone itself to find a contact...

draw up a list of the things you'd really want it to do, if it can, then maybe it's woth a punt.

I have one from China that runs Windows CE (and has a lot more functionality) and I can't fault it yet...had it 12 months and it's going strong. However, it was 33-100% cheaper than a Kenwood (or equivilant) so if it goes bang then I will just replace it or try to fix it myself or worst case buy another.

If you need any more info let me know and I'll give you details of mine.
