I have just fitted the silver OE Kenwood GX-401EF headunit to my car (as fitted to the blobeyes). I have a third party 5v iPhone cable that connects to the changer port on the head unit. The cable works fine if I have just disconnected the changer and plugged the phone in, but if I turn the stereo off it no longer recognises the cable as a changer, and so I can't get any sound through.

Does anyone know a way of forcing the stereo into changer mode ? or is my cable just garbage ?
