Question

Can anyone recommend an excellent company to upgrade the speaker system in a Boxter?
I believe that it would sound loads better for having a pair of speakers behind the seats - porsche say it cannot be done but wont explain why.

There isn't any space, probably why You have that little slidey gap behind the seats but you can't fit anything in there. There's no room for any kind of slimline sub under the seats either. You can upgrade the door speakers quite easily (DIY job in a scoob, I wouldn't do it myself in a Porsche though), and your amps have to sit in the front boot (like they are as standard), if you want a sub it has to go there too really, but it doesn't sound the best in the world.

I appreciate that it is tight but there is a good couple of inches behind the seats, thought there may be someone out there who had some nice thin ones!

I've already looked. Mate of mine is on his second Boxster and wanted to upgrade his ICE from the standard (admittedly not bad sounding) stuff, him and I looked around everywhere for some products that'd go in but it's not an ideal platform. Tried putting my old 8" RF boxed sub in *anywhere* and it just doens't seem to fit, passenger footwell isn't ideal 'cos nobody can sit in it comfortably and if you stick it in the front boot I think it'll be heard more outside than in! Nice car though

There's a good place called the Sound Gallery in High Wycombe (nearer Luton than Manchester, at least!) that does some pretty flash stuff. They do it well rather than cheap, though. If it's possible to fit speakers where they aren't supposed to go, I'd have thought they could do it. 01494 464 670 for the car section.
