Thumbs up

I have a Double din in my MY01 WRX and was hoping to upgrade to a single din unit, but after reading some topics I thought against it, then thought about, what do the lower level models have double or single dins, if single din the housing unit should fit the double din dash and hopfully no more cutting or hacking the dash.

(Flame suit on)

Yep, you can get a single din adaptor from Subaru IIRC.

Can someone post the definite answer, plus part number, and it'll make it into the FAQ?

You can definately fit a single DIN unit to the MYO1 - only the WRX and the GX have double Din - the 1.6TS has got a single din and a 'cubby hole' adapter.

Any subaru dealer should be able to get the part number of the cubby hole or phone 0121 522 2000 and ask for Subaru Accessories. They will furnish you with all the info you need for replacing the poor double din unit - this gets done on a lot of MY01's mainly because the single slot CD player fitted does not accept ANY cd changer - so you have to replace the head unit straight away and new double din's are mucho dosho. They probably have the din adaptor as an acessory part number - cheaper than a Japanese sourced item.
