I know I shouldn't be bothered about the radio, but want something to listen to while sitting in all those traffic jams.

Have got a Kenwood 778 head unit in a MY00, and the reception's crap (won't hold radio 1 around the M25). Anyone else got this problem, and have you managed to fix it.

Road Radio suggested an amplified whip aerial on the roof, but not too keen on letting anyone out with the tin snips on my baby.

I'd check the cable to the aerial, no reason it should be that poor and amplification is overkill, and not that effective anyway.
