Default What Sub?

People.... Advice sought.

I currently have (amongst other things) a JL Audio 12W7 sub installed in a JL ProWedge...

Now although its awesome, it does weight a fudgin' tonne and isnt doing my performance (or fuel) figures any favours.

So, inevitaby, I'm looking to downscale slightly in favour of a lighter (yet just as awesome) equivalent....

Any suggestions?

I'm using a JL 500/1 amp to run things at the moment so would prefer to keep this and stick with JL if possible....

You'll struggle to get an equivalent sound from a cheaper/lighter/smaller sub. Consider a kicker square sub although I'm personally not a fan. Maybe a GRP/Carbon box would be lighter!

I have no problem with spending some money as long as I can save some weight.... My boot is lined with 12mm MDF on which I've mounted my amps so there's a fair bit of weight in there....

Also I think the 12W7 is just too powerful for my boot and its being underused.... Was considering maybe 2x8's or a single 10....

Carbon Box?

Just get a custom boot build made up in Carbon Fibre, get rid of the MDF that's a lot of the weight!
