Just had the above installed 'professionally' in a hawk-eye Sti when I came to pick-up the car they said the existing cage seemed fine so they used that which meant they couldn't fit the trim. Is this the best way or were they being lazy? The finish seems ok perhaps a bit gappy around the edges ans is slightly set-back from the fascia. Also they have scratched the console surround in four places presumably where the clips are to release the panel again is this avoidable or lazy?

Anyone got any photos of their installation?

 

Not sure how relevant as mine is an 04, but I didn't use any of the additional cage's that were provided, just bolted into the original cage that housed the original unit. As for the scratches - one of the reasons I did mine myself was due the bodge jobs i've had from asking supposed professional installers.

No excuse for scratching surrounding parts....

 

The stereo fitment of a scoob does need the cage which came with the stereo, everything just bolts to the housing. As for scratching the trim, there is no need to use any tool that would do damage when fitting the stereo, so I would say that is lazy. The stereo will have a slight gap but nothing that looks out of place.
