I swapped the std. Subaru / Philips headunit and changer for my Alpine 7562 head and S614 changer at the weekend.

Perhaps it's me, but the sound seems a lot more balanced now. With the Philips, everything seemed to come from the front speakers, despite playing with the fade control.

The Alpine seems to give a much better feeling of 'surround sound'. Maybe it's just me, but it does seem to show the difference between a factory head unit / changer against £500+ of kit (the price I paid when I brought the Alpine approx. two years)

Only downside is the front speakers protest even earlier now. Time to get some new 'uns I think.

Question - has anyone else sold the Philips head and changer on? How much did you get? I'm thinking I'll flog it to pay for the front speakers.

I flogged the changer for £100 I think, kept the head unit to put back in when I sell the car.
