Default Which double dinn to get!?

Right guys, after spending literally all night on the net looking for the answer to this question.. please please someone help!!

So, had a look, and read almost all the threads on here trying to decide. At the minute im looking at a Kenwood DDX 7029. Also there is the dnx 7200, which seems popular. And then there are the one billion other options, 8029 etc etc.

Im looking to spend a max of £700, im after a 7" double din touch screen, not particularly fussed about sat nav but with or without is fine, dont need ipod items. Basically a decent screen to watch dvd's on and a pretty interface, surely not too much to ask for!

Thats about it, would really appreciate some advice as im at my whits end with all the sales patter and figures! Just want a decent one!

Thanks guys..

I would also check out Alpine, the W202 is great and I think the new W205 is out soon.

You could try this, if Sat Nav doesn't matter.

JVC KW-AVX810 - Car Audio from Bassjunkies

It is one of the only 7" double Dins with detachable screen for security.

I have one fitted in MY03 STI, very nice fit, and picture quality is fine. The interface is ok looks wise but might not be upto the alpine's but for around £400 you can't go wrong.

Thats great cheers guys. May have to go with a JVC, although looking at the alpines right now, the Alpine IVA-W505 looks quite impressive, but cant seem to find an awful lot about it.. the search continues!

Well, further searching reveals the w505 is made in us only. Have just found this website Car parts, car accessories, leisure products from A1 motor stores, over 260 stores throughout the UK.

They can get me a Kenwood DDX 7029 and wiring adapter kit for £500! Thats seriously cheap dont ya think, almost suspiciously so.

Was interested in the others suggested to me, but that deal has done it methinks.. any opinions? Comments? All welcome

Cheers again for the help gents, makes me proud to be a Scoobynetter!

If you are worried about buying online, then both Car Audio Direct for car stereo, navigation and audiovisual electronics. and Car Audio Sextons Direct - car audio and stereo direct to your door are completely trustworthy and extremely helpful.

Default iPod

Is it right that these units only need the optional iPod cable to play videos through the head unit? The webiste seems to suggest it has 'direct play' so you can play audio from your iPod using the usb connector and the standard cable that comes with the iPod?

If you're still trying to decide... I can heartily recommend the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD.... .... bought one a few months ago and really enjoying it at the minute....

A few pics...

Is there a guide as to how to get the fascia off of a 03-05 Impreza? I can find one for the hawkeye but all the links to the 'older' interior no longer work

If it's the same as an 02 bugeye - open the cup holder, remove the screws behind the silver front. You can then pull the whole thing out.

You should be able to pull the fasia off with your hand from where the cup holder was, there are clips holding it in which will come away. You should be careful not to snap it but it's fairly strong. It doesn't come all the way off, it's held at the bottom by the heater stuff.
