Question

I have a Alpine CD head unit, only a few years old. It is having problems playing CDs. It can take a couple of minutes before it starts playing a track. This can be annoying if I am skippping tracks.

Has anyone had a problem like this, and can it be fixed or is the unit F*ck?

Like most CD players over time (2 years is a bit early for a quality brand) the laser lens can become dirty - could try one of the cleaner thingies. Symptoms are not reading discs, skipping, slow scanning etc etc. Can be especially sensitive if you are using CDRs. Worth a try before you take it to be repaired?
