Unhappy BLANK SCREEN ON DVD UNIT WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE SWITCHED ON?

installed a dvd/divx/tv unit in the car, works fine, however when the headlights are turned on the unit display goes into a blue screen and I can't do anything from there until the lights are switched off........ no damn good considering most of the next few months will be much darkness.

Is it because an issue with the lights drawing current from the battery and therefore not able to facilitate the player?
or connection problems.... shouldn't be used the iso connections?
or the units just plain crap.. bought one of those EBAY ones if you know what I mean?
or something else, offers invited...!!!

sounds like it could be an earth problem, i would reccomend you run power and earth cable to the unit direct from the battery.
