Default Double Din Upgrade

Looking for a double din DVD/MP3 player, Ipod ready, as an upgrade for my OEM set up.

Any recommendations? Looking to spend £300-400.

thanks

Dave

ps have already updated the front speakers to JL audio ones.

If you can stretch budget to circa £440 you could go for the Kenwood DDX 7029 which does all you want and more.I run one of these along with Focal 165 K2Ps in the front with 2 JL Audio 8" subs built into the floor (behind front seats) powered by a JL 300/4 amp and it is astonishing

Another shout for the Kenwood DDX-7029 although you may even be stretched to get one second hand at your budget, although you could get lucky.

Best piece of kit I've used, great bluetooth facility that can be used inconjunction with it as well.

scooby-tc - How do the Focals fit in the doors? I have a set of those but it was a nightmare in my classic as the windows wouldnt go down... i presumed on 05 cars that this would still be the same? you got any pics of the subs installed?

cheers

Leon

Hi Leon,to fit the focals in my 05 spec c i had to make an 18mm MDF spacer which is the same shape as the OE speaker mount so it fitted perfectly then you just cut the hole in the middle for the speaker to fit to the new spacer.Only took me 15 minutes to make both of them and i have no issues with the windows at all
Here is a pic of the speakers fitted before i put the door card back on

Another Kenwood fan here
(admittedly mines a single din with a centre channel speaker below to fill the gap)

The subaru standard head unit is a kenwood affair so if there are CD changers involved they simply plug straight in.

That looks kickass mate. I'm guessing that raises the floor on the pass side then?

Yep,it raises the floor to the height of the transmission tunnel on the passenger side which is still quite low so it doesnt affect passengers too much

Easy to pick this up for about £440 from any car audi online dealer, I am just about to buy the in dash version as I would be a bit worried about it getting pinched from my car.
