STi8 with crap sound
Hi,
My sound system sounds really poor, no substance to it at all, please help.
I have a MY04 Sti Type UK with the standard double din cassette CD HU. I also presume I have the standard Subaru speaker system.
(Comments on this system appreciated, I can't believ how poor the sound is. Any volume over 17 and the speakers sound like they are trying to escape).
Any ideas on what I need to do. Do I need a new HU or speakers or both? I do not want a high end system, just something that will allow me to hear Chris Moyles in the morning, and a few tunes on that B road blast.

Had same prob mate. Bin the standard head unit and stick in something like a Kenwood (4 x 50 watts at least). U will need to blank off lower part of aperture with Forester under tray.Dynamat front doors and change speakers which are terrible. Head unit will cost under £100 and prob worth spending at least the same on speakers. Results are pretty impresssive
