Hissing h-ifi & amp-levels

This is almost as complicated and certainly as specialist as tuning the engine on your car.
Find a reputable ICE dealer near you and see if they will set it up for you.
Mike.
Just booked my car in to have my system re-fitted, estimate for re-fitting is £1,500.00

The second-hand MY97 Turbo I bought a short while ago came fitted with what should be a good system ready installed.
It consists of Kenwood components all round. 3-way speakers in the front doors, 3-way 6x9s in the parcel shelf, a 10 disc changer in the boot, and a radio-cassette up front. There are also 2 amps in the boot, a 4x40 Watt of which two outputs are driving the fronts, and a 2x90 Watt which is driving the rear.
There seems to be a constant background hiss when the system is on, at the same volume regardless of the head unit volume. Any ideas what might be causing this?
Secondly, there are level controls on the amps themselves. How should I adjust these to optimum settings?
Finally, it really doesn't sound as crisp, tight and bassy as it should. What might be the best thing to do to improve it?
Sorry for all the questions, but I've never done anything with car hi-fi before!
Cheers.
Andy.
