Default power cap question?

hi folks im fitting a power cap at the moment and read somewhere online that you have to charge it with a 1kohm resistor before actualy hooking it up to the cars supply!?!? i have read the documentation that came with it, and it dosent mention it but it comes with a spare un-attacked 1kohm resistor can anyone help as i dont want to bow it up or fry both my amps!?!?!?!

cheers Drew

Default power cap

http://nuclearworldaction.com/video.html Hello mate i have a power cap on mine and as far as i can remember i just connected the cap up.i think the battery charged it up as you connected it , made a lot of differance to the system , no headlight drain and the dash lights dont blink no more ...LOL good luck with the install.make sure you do the connecters up tight because if they come loose they will drain the battery.. not good .. as i know this from experience .. hope this helps WAZ

drewzer, I didnt charge mine with the resistor - after 2 hours of trying I gave up.

Works fine but just to be on the safe side turn off all other electrical things in your car so as not to surge the power and it should be fine.

Ensure the Live wire from the cap to the amp is as short as feasably possible and make sure that the Earth points are clean and very good.

Enjoy your system dude

you do need to slowly charge them first. conect the earth first, then the resister from the capasitor to the battery. check with an ohms tester (but on volts) it should give you the same readding as the battery.

good luck!
