All,

I'm in the process of fitting my new Pioneer
DEH7900 and 6 disc changer to the scooby.
After much deliberation went for mounting
the changer under the parcel shelf in the
boot. What a job getting the parcel shelf
out so i didn't drill through it when
mounting the brackets......
Anyway - whilst the car is all in bits with
the seat and trim all over the garage....
Has anyone any tips to make things easier..
I'm running the IP cable down the drivers
side as there seems to be a cable/brake pipe
run down this side - I was going to run it
up under the dash to the head unit
I've got a autoleads adaptor for the pioneer
so hopefully it should all plug together ok
but i want to know what to do with speakers
and cables...
What are the best speakers to fit in the
front doors that will not require any mods
to the door surrounds etc - budget is about
£100 quid all in. Do i need to upgrade the
cable to the front speakers as well?
Also the rear speakers - people say dont
bother with upgrading them - is this right?

Front Speaker change id go for:-

Infinity Reference 605cs components about £90 all in and they will fit into the front door mountings without any mods, the tweeters also fit into the door handle mounts.

Will i need crossovers as well or do they
come as a package with crossovers included?

First rule in installing ICE

Routee ALL signal cables/wires , up centre of car , Any power cables up the same side of the car as the battery sits (left hand side on Scoobys , well that's where mine is) , and any speaker cables run up the other side of the car . This all cuts down the interference that power cables can cause . I removed passeger seat and rear seat completely to do mine , it only takes 20 mins to do this , and makes it a whole heap easier .

I'd echo what Nate recommends: take the seats out if you've got the space to do so. The time you spend will result in not skinning your knuckles - what price for your skin?

Have put the cable in now to the CD changer
and must admit, I ran it down the drivers
side and up and over the steering column
support and into the head unit.
I will at some stage have all the back seat
out again to put some better rear speakers in
but the fronts are my priority at the mo. I
will look at changing the cable routing if
i get any probs though.
Regarding cabling to the front speakers - do
you recommend upgrading from the standard
scooby harness wiring to something better or
what?

I'd say don't bother until you add an amp into the system, though a couple of people on here have changed the wiring and have noticed a difference. It really depends if you want the ball-ache now, and whether you're going to add an amp. If you are adding an amp, I'd wait. If not, give it a bash!
