Amplifier choices and fitting
Having now recognised the possible quality of my new speakers (Focal Polyglass 165 VSlim) I am thinking of fitting an additional amp. The head unit is a Pioneer P70BT. I have done a search and read the FAQ and there is surprisingly little information on the fitting and choice of aftermarket amps - or did I miss something?!
On the demo the addition of an amp added a whole new dimension of quality and having a fabulous home set up I recognise the need for a good amp set up.
I am only running the front door speakers - I am not fitting rears or a sub. The sound is already good, with an amp I believe it will be great and not need a sub. An additional limit to fitting a sub is that the boot is unlined bare metal as it is a Spec C as well as adding more unwanted weight
The question(s): -
With a total budget allowed of £300 (I will be fitting it myself) what would be the best choice of amp.
Two channel?
Four channel bridged?
Where would be the best place to fit it - under the passenger seat?
Spend less on an amp and put in rears? (This choice does not appeal as it would probably mean getting more Focals to match the quality and then all the money would be used up )
All thoughts appreciated,
Thanks
Rannoch

I've got the same speakers as you and use a VIBE BLACKBOX I they sound excellent. I got the amp from ebay for £30 but here is a link to buy one online http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/prod...oducts_id=2697
I've got the amplifier mounted on the back of the back seat but i think it should be fine under a seat just make sure its not too close to any heater vents (if there are any).

i bit above your budget ( around £400 ) but you won't buy again when you have the best

if your budget is totalled to £300, i wouldnt be looking at £300 amps. you need to factor in decent cabling too. for the full amp wiring and decent upgraded speaker wire, i would budget circa £50-80.... leaving you with £220-250 to play with on the amp.
for this kind on money, i would look at a reasonally specced alpine or entry level Genesis amp...
also, you could spend £30ish on some sound deadening for the front speakers, this will help with the sound as well... make it a lot tighter...

Thanks guys, as I said above I have bought the two channel Genesis amp - it was £200. I have also bought a middling cable kit at £60.
The speakers are already surrounded by Dynamat so it looks like I have been doing the right thing
Thanks again
