Hi All

On the recommendations from people here and elsewhere I've just had installed:

Kenwood 971 MD head unit
Kenwood 717 CD changer
JL 6500 components

...... many thanks to Paul at Car Electronics (Leicester).

The sounds is pretty good, but this was always going to be the first stage, hence the question what next ...

Two ways in the rear (with amp)

or

Has anybody tried one of the smaller 8" subs (as opposed to the 10"++) with all 3 running from a 4ch amp ?? .... do I *really* need a ten, as I'm not interested in spleen shattering bass ??

Opinions welcomed.

There's a joke about 8 inches on the back seat that I'll leave you to fill in the punchline for.

In all seriousness, a pair of 8" free air subs mounted in the parcel shelf, or cunningly boxed underneath with no rear speakers, may prove to be what you want...

As for running off a four channel: definitely. Keep it simple if you can, and you'll have few problems with interferance and all the other malarky.

Personally, I'm running 2 tens and the sound isn't spleen splitting but controlled and fairly deep.

2 8s boxed under the parcel shelf really appeals to me... Might be worth a try.
