My fav of the moment is the Sony 9950.

Good quality unit with Burr-Brown processors. The display on the unit is fantastic. You can even upload video's of your car onto it and use them as a screensaver.

Any Kenwood head unit with 3 RCA outputs. Feed a Music Keg into it instead of a CD changer [music keg cartridges currently 10Gb, 20Gb, 40Gb, 80Gb and supports .mp3, FLAC, .wma and .ogg] you then have your whole music collection in your car.

Some of the latest Alpine units can connect to an iPod without the interface box, and also apparently allow full-speed scrolling through artists, albums etc.
