Default my02 wrx door speakers

have been looking around for a while (including searching in the ice section) for speakers to replace the oem door speakers. i've read chiark's pages on ice installations and was about to get hold of some infinity 6500cs components but i am informed they are now obsolete. am sure i could get hold of some somewhere, but was wondering what speakers those who have already done this would recommend other than the above.

any advice would be greatly appreciated - my speakers are knackered and i need some decent sounds!

in case this is important - i'm running a double din dvd player with standard speaker inputs at the moment, plus a pre-out to the amp and sub in the boot. once i've sorted the front speakers i'll start reading up on active subs or stealthboxz enclosures to free up some space in the boot. i wasn;t planning to run the new front speakers off an amp

I got some brand new boxed 6500cs on Ebay at Christmas for £60 + £10 P & P.
He was selling a lot of 15 and it looks like only 5 of them were sold.
He has a website caraudiobargains.co.uk

EDITED

He is selling some at:

thanks nick. had a quick look but am still wondering what else is out there which could do the job. halfrauds were selling the 6500cs for £49.99 but they're out of stock and won't be getting any more. i have seen them on the web in other places for between about £70 and £120 but didn't want to pay over the odds for them

Did you fit the speakers, how much trouble was it and are you pleased with them?

Need to upgrade mine soon (02 STi)

mike - just seen your post. yes i did upgrade them and working very well. went to the guys who installed my last car kit [phone] as i wanted it done quickly - took them longer than they thought once they'd sorted out the spacers, but got there in the end. very pleased with them, but time for a stealthboxz or similar now i think to save some space in the boot
