Ive just bought some infinite kappa 6x9's and was just wondering if they are easy enough to fit.Is it a straight replacement or do holes need to be cut as i cant say ive looked at the existing rears i imagine they r just cheap jap crap.
Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming the shelf is the same as my 93 WRX was, you will either have to drill new holes, or create an MDF template that bolts under the shelf using the original holes, and then mark holes on the template where the speaker's holes will be, drill, and bolt those. Very fiddly - a bit of trial and error involved, but I just used a piece of A4 to draw a rough shape, then jigsawed the MDF. To get a good seal with the uneven underside, pad the gaps out with a bit of dynamat type stuff. Unfortunately I sold the templates with the car - I could have posted them here for general use. It also means you can use the original grills to disguise the speakers. Oh, and remove the steel blanking plates as well (keep the screws...)

Not much help, I'm sure....

NB: You WILL need two people to do this...

Unless you have already done it. My advise is get someone else to do it for you. It is a nightmare.
