Default Satnav self install. Speed pulse?

Hi guys,
was toying with the idea of sat nav in the car, MY05.
I'm not too bad with the install thing but the only thing putting me off with doing it myself is finding the speed pulse wire.
After researching the net I know it's behind the dials but how easy is this to find and how long will it take. Really don't want to get half way and then find it's getting too dark etc.

Any help appreciated although I note not much comment has been made on this subject.

Cheers
Ben

easiest way is to get it at the ECU, Have a look at www.apexi.com and go to the RSM wiring diagram page, there you will find the wire for speed pulse.

Exactly as WannaB4 says - get it from the wiring loom at the ECU. *much* easier, and doesn't require you to mess with the clocks etc.

Thanks guys, although I haven't had a chance to rummage round the ecu.
Is it safe to use these tap style connectors to do this that get supplied with the kit? (I remember the old scotchlock style things that cut through the wire insulation, awful!). I was hoping there was a some what better way of doing it.

Erm, how do I work out the table on the Apexi site? I've got a MY05 uk sti and it doesn't seem obvious which diagram I should look at.

Thanks again.

Not seen the connectors. If it was me doing it, I'd *very* carefully split the insulation, cut it back, solder the new wire into the existing wire, then tape up.

http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/m...ng/wiring.html

I got info for MY03 from here last year.

Andy.

Seen that link, thanks for the time though. The problem is that being an MY05 I can't find any reference to it directly.
