Default ****! door problems :(

I'm so annoyed...

I bought these expensive spacers from an ICE shop ages ago for the car (Well, not that expensive, but they were still 20 quid for two pieces of plastic)

So, today I was going to install some new infinitys (the 13cm comps), and after ripping the door skin off, sound deadening the outer door skin (boy, what a difference!) I was about to screw the spacers onto the door, but do they fit? Of course not

The spacers must be for a classic impreza or something, although the AutoLeads package stated Impreza WRX

Guess I'll be getting some MDF to make spacers from instead Only problem is, I have no saw

And to top it all off, my fingertips are now sore from working out in the cold..

Question

Do you know anyone with a jigsaw? Do the job in about 5 minutes with one.

Edited to say: if using MDF, DO paint it with primer, then a couple of coats of emulsion, to stop water ingress, which makes it swell

Ah, yeah my brother in law is a builder, so I hope he's got a bloody jig-saw, or else I'll go out and buy a 20 quid jobby

Thanks for the tip on emulsion, didn't actually know this.

After having a read on Chiarks FAQ, I think I have an idea of how to do it. I've got the old speakers to measure with anyway, so hopefully shouldn't be too much of a problem.

What *really* annoys me is that I bought the 13cm components because I couldn't be arsed to make the MDF spacers for the 6000CS (16cm) as I could get the spacers from the ICE shop, and now I have to make a bloody spacer anyway *and* end up with 13cm components, and less mid-bass

Wink

When I made mine, I used the OE Scoob speakers to draw round for mounting holes and shape, then the template for the speaker for the cutout.
Worked a treat, got 16.5 cm Sony 3-way speakers in now. I bought Sony as in a blind test, I loved the sound.
