hey all...

ive just fitted a brand new alpine head unit and i was wondering if the display is supposed to illuminate when its switched off but the ignition is on, like for instance the standard 2 DIN unit, or my old sony...or does it just come on when you power it up...?

only when you power it up, not too sure if it does when it's off but your lights are on though, and the illumination is connected

Fitted mine yesterday as well - did you find the surround wasn't needed?

 

not needed if you bolt it in, and then you also dont need the cage or latches either

 

yeah, i noticed that the surround and cage werent needed...thought id done it wrong...lol...!!!

 

Don't need cage or surround if fitted to Japanese car as shown in the install guide.
