I've a 9815 unit and am supposed to be sending it back to alpine for a warranty repair.

They've requested the full unit but I can see the problem (a hairline crack across the lcd screen ).

The question is: does the removable facia fit any respective h/u or are they "paired" as I would rather avoid ripping out the full unit from the car... I'd hope just to send back the facia if possible.

Any ideas before I ring them?

Sorted it hopefully - can send facia only - Alpine think they should have a body to test it with...

 

I had the same. You can just send the face back..

 

Update for anybody in same predicament:

Alpine service changed the LCD screen in my facia under warranty but sent it back untested as they said they hadn't got a suitable HU to try it on

Luckily, everything's OK
