DVD Screen compatibility
I've decided that my head unit needs updating, and am seriously looking at the Pioneer AVIC X1 "all-in-one" Sat-Nav/DVD/MP3 unit. However I also want to put a changer in the back for more MP3 disks (the idea being I can leave the sat-nav disk in the head unit and also play MP3/DVD). The question is....
Will the head unit's cd/dvd changer control work on any brand cd/dvd changer?? I've seen a 6-disc Centurion dvd/mp3 changer (multi-region too!!!) which is £300+ cheaper than a similar Kenwood or Pioneer one. Or do I have to stick with a Pioneer brand???

I have fitted (Had fitted ) a AVIC-X1 and boy oh boy does it turn heads as well as being the doggy danglies
Absolutely Chuffed......
Its fitted together with white 52mm Defi gauges with control unit and the lot lit up at night is SIMPLY AWESOME.
GO 4 IT
p.s. From my understanding too, Granby is correct in stating that u need to purchase a pioneer changer to work with the head unit....BUT I'm sure you can purchase an adapter that may work with othre vendors such as Alpine and the likes....I may be corrected

Thanks guys
I have spoken to my local Pioneer dealer too, and it appears that you have to keep with the same make for changers The only exception is when you have an OE headunit, and sometimes adapters are available to use other changer units. So if I want a DVD/MP3 multi-changer too (and only region 2) thats gonna cost another £1200 !!!! May have to settle for a standard cd changer for the time being.
(Unless anyone knows for sure that adapters are available to mix-and-match headunits to changers...in particular Pioneer headunit to Centurion changer)
