Unhappy Kenwood DAB reception problems

I've just had a Kenwood DAB unit fitted which is plugged into my Kenwood CD headunit.

It's currently using a glass mounted internal aerial.

The reception is appalling along the M3 and I can't even get stations at home that I can get on my domestic DAB unit.

Apart from fitting the Kenwood external aerial (which means drilling my MY02 UK STI) to try and improve the reception has anyone any other suggestions?

Incidently the reception does improve with the engine off but not enough to make me think it's the whole cause.

Cheers, Baz

Maybe the box itself, the glass mount aeriels are usually good.

do you have a heated front screen? Or a heat reflective type screen? I know these can bugger up GPS reveivers so could be the same for digi radio??

just a thought.

Update:

Went to Manchester and back last week. DAB worked fine outside a 20 mile radius of where I live near Reading

According to the DAB map this area should be OK but I'm wondering if it's a reception blackspot ? The analogue reception is iffy around here as well so perhaps the treacle mines are at fault

Now thinking about doing a temporary rig for the external ariel (and I'd welcome suggestions on how to do that without losing it going round a corner !)

No fancy heated screen and I run a Road Angel which beeps contentedly each day.

Bloody toys !

Thanks guys - Baz
