Am i correct in thinking 6.5 ins for the front doors & 4 ins for the rear doors? '01 bugeye.
Would it be poss to get 5 ins in the rear doors ?

I'd be surprised if they were more than 5.25" in either classic or bugeye (fronts). Doesn't mean you can't get 6.5" in there, just that it would require spacers and a speaker requiring only a modest mounting depth.
Aceman.... you can get 5 1/4 in the front very comfortably
your'll find that the old units have a casing on the outer part of the speaker.. this fits nicely round your new replacement !
Chris... MY01 > the front speakers are 5" as standard but the doors will take up to 6.5". The rear doors are 4" as standard but will accomodate 5" with a little playing around.
The deciding factor is not necessarily the diameter, rather the magnet depth, as too deep a magnet will foul the window glass when wound down. the door panels will accomodate a MDF spacer of anything up to 18mm which allows for a fair range of speakers.
Hope this helps you both
