Default Jeez whats with the rear speaker placing in the new cars

Just bought a wrx 2004 (have a 1999 sti5 as well) and was gonna do a nice simple install of:

Head unit -Alpine........ (circa £400-£500)
Focal front and 6*9 rear.. about £500 of speakers
Genesis 4 channel amp....(£600)
Wiring/spacers/dynamat in the front doors

But what the... I open the boot and where are the rear speakers... then I realise the plonkers at Subaru have put them in the rear doors.....jeez.. no wonder the wrx system sounds so ****e...

So what can I do.... I guess that you cant fit 6*9's in the rear doors?? - and they wont sound the same anyway....

So what are people doing - I dont want to cut into the rear parcel shelf trim and move some of the electric components on the rear parcel shelf drivers side

Can someone confirm that the sti9/decent spec cars have the same stereo set up...? as I might just keep the car 6 months and then trade up - i.e. not uprate the stereo... but it will be painful.... its a pain but even in a runaround I need a semi-decent set up...

If I were you I'd not bother with the rears (they'll just spoil your soundstage) and install a sub instead (which you could run bridged from your 4 channel amp).
