What size speakers?

Depends how much hassle you want. The 5.5 should drop straight in.
Have a quick search and you'll find many posts on the subject. I'm running 6.5" and they were slightly troublesome to fit.
Someone has recently fitted some JBLs as a drop in and is very impressed....

I fitted JBL GT6.0c 6 inch component speakers in the front (they come with a passive crossover and tweeter). I fitted them myself (so they must have been easy ) without any modification whatsoever. They will cost you around £90 a pair and are a vast improvement over the standard speakers.
You will find better (read: more expensive) alternatives, but I reckon these were pretty good value for money.
Cheers
