Can anyone recommend a top quality set of speakers for the front ? I'm currently running Cliff Designs and although they are clear I want more of a thump !
The amp is a genuine 60W RMS per channel..in the region of 200-300 quid ?

I've used Boston Acoustic Rally speakers and was ver impressed with them. I compared them side by side to the Infinity Kappas, and found the Bostons carried more bass, and had a more natural definition in the sound.

I've only just got my Subaru, but I'd probably go for the same again. The 5.25" Bostons I bought before were £200, but I think the 6.5" ones are around the £250.

Give them a listen, any good car hifi shop will be able to let you audition them.

I too have Bostons.
Pro's and rallye's. Both are first class.

There are some for sale in the ICE for sale section at the back of Fast Car, you won't go far wrong if you choose them.

I've got Infinity Kappa components in the front of my WRX. The sound beautiful, but don't as much bass response as I'd like. I'd recommend them if you're planning on using a subwoofer, but not if you want to keep to the standard layout. I am really impressed with the Scooby as an ICE car - alternator seems to cope well with large current demands and there are no niggling little rattles anywhere!

Tut tut..I had left huge gaps in the spacer rings (ran short of time!) - obviously air was just being pushed from front to back.
I've redone the spacers this weekend (MDF and fibreglass) for a perfect fit and used draught excluder between speaker and spacer and spacer and door.
Result - much more thump.
just need to knock off a few mm now cos the speakers are slightly pushing the door panel out !
