ipod to minidisc connection
Hi Guys,
I'm about to take delivery of an ipod and want to run it through my Sony MDX-C6500 minidisc head unit. I don't have any extra amps or anything, is it just a case of plugging a phono output from the ipod into the phono inputs in the back of the minidisc or do I need to get involved with bus cables and the like (although I can't see how I would as there's nowhere for the bus cable to come from!!)?
As you can guess I'm a bit of a thicko when it comes to ice so keep replies simple please
Much obliged.

As far as I know it can't be done. I've had MD head units for ages and not found a way. The bus connector needs to be activated and that is only done from a changer unit. So my advice would be to give up on this thread and.......
Buy an "iTrip".

It is a apple add-on which then allows you to tune your radio to the ipod. EASY. I'm not sure they are available in UK but they are on Ebay for about £30 inc P&P.

Hmmm, just done a bit of research and it seems that I need to plug something into the bus socket for the head unit to recognize the signal from the ipod.
That means either the aforementioned Denison or a Sony xa-300 auxillary input adapter which costs more than the denison...damn
Unless anyone knows different...

You're spot on in your findings. With the exception of the few Sony head units that feature aux-in (that aren't badged as Aiwa ho ho ho), ice>Link is a lower cost route for iPod audio through Sony with the benefit of key mapping.
