MP3 CD Head Unit
#4
Hi, have you tried using a computer to save all your MP3s to a CD as CD audio? software like Easy CD creator 3.5/4 can save them directly to a CD as CD audio from your mp3 on ya hard drive. This then gives you your own compilation CD, but it doesn't work on CDRWs, sorry. Any more info required email a question to carstereo@as-mags.demon.co.uk (this is the help page of Carstereo mag.)

I currently do this - it works fine on most in-car CD players. You can record CD tracks and/or MP3's onto disc in CD Audio format, however you're still limited to 74 or 80 minutes of playtime (dependent on disc type used). What we're after is a player that will be able to recognise/decode MP3's thus allowing you to place several hundred MP3s on one CD in the car head unit. I currently carry dozens of CDs in the car and could probably replace this with just the one disc.

Hi Stonebridge
I tried to get a MP3 head unit that would play (via a single CD) normal CD's CD-R's and CD-RW's. The Kenwood and Aiwa units will do this but are US ONLY. Kenwood say that they may import UK versions next year but are waiting to see the demand. If you buy as US model neither will guarantee the radio will work or things like RDS.
I opted for a straight forward Sony M700R Head unit and will be adding thye PhatBox for my MP3's (A bit more expensive but will hold over 2000 titles) ;D
