Question

I have had a Type R for a month now and love it!! But, the cr4ppy sound system is driving me mad!
My las two cars (both BMW's) had the Harman Kardon system which was the pups nuts.
I want to replace the whole sound system, but know diddly squat about ICE. I would be very grateful for your advice on which is the best set up.
Keep in mind I don't want to be heard from a mile away. I just want clarity and something that can handle high volume without distorting. I also do not want to cut holes in my car.
What is a realistic budget for such a system, keeping in mind that I am a tight wad!

PS. I would want a 10 stack multi-changer in the boot and if I did need a sub it would have to be small.

Many thanks!

26 views and not one reply? C'mon guys, throw me a frickin' bone here!
I spoke to a freind who said that he has JBL in his car and is very good and cheap (didn't hear it)
I then spoke to another freind who said "if it isn't Focal or Infinity, don't have it". he also said that JBL is sh!te.
What speakers, what amp, what sub, and what head unit/CD changer.
Some body reply,....please,.......pretty please with suger on top!

Mad

have a look at Whites genesis amps... You aint going to get better.

Spend some money on sound deadening the car. Nice set of front components, with Silk tweeters. ...

Go the S/H route...buy of the good guys and you wont go wrong.

I had (Still have for sale) a 8.inch JBL sub That ran of a genesis amp and sounded fantastic.

White, how much you looking for on the amps? How many do I need?
And the subs, how much for those? What size are they? Are they boxed?

Luke, How much you looking for on the JBL sub? I'm looking for something small. It sounds good, is it boxed?

Can I get away with running one sub and one amp? I don't want the sort of bass you hear comming out of some spotty young herbert's Escort LX 4 miles before you see him, I just want good clarity with sensible bass (you can tell I'm getting old).

Also, what do you recomend for front and back speakers? I want some that will live in the existing holes.

i`d go for an alpine head unit, 250 pounds will get you a mp3 one, and go for JL subs, and focal or infinity for speakers...

and do some surfing, or just buy max power....lots of ice dealers advertise with them..so your gunna get the best prices, and deals all in one!
