Some people have fitted cut-down speaker spacers intended for a N*va to their car. I gather they're plastic or GRP.
Other than that how are you having problems with the MDF?
Are you using a curve-cutting (i.e. narrow) jigsaw blade and is the MDF held down securely? Did you draw/cut/slash out a pattern in paper or cardboard before starting on the MDF?
Vindaloo.

You can buy MDF spacer rings from ICE dealers. Just ring some in your yellow pages. It's not a commonly stocked item, so if theu sont have any, they should be able to order it for you. I got a set from Autotronix in Bedford a couple of years ago.

jbl 6.5 inchers (ohh errr)
they are quite deep according to the jbl site they are 2 1/4 deep
http://www.jbl.com/car/product.asp?prod=P652&ser=POS&cat=MEL
the problem i had was that it cant just be a 'ring' due to the shape of the door mounts, and if i use spacers then the speaker is going to be free to air and not sunk into the door panel in an air tight sort of way, like the original ones.
cheers

SyHighTower,
Without a workmate and clamps or a good vice it would be a bit of a mare. There are a couple of threads/links around showing completed spacers but as you have found out, they aren't just circles.
Good luck with the rest of the ICE install.

If you can't be bothered to make your own you could try this place over in Byfleet.

I have just bought some carpet from them for my rear parcel shelf. No idea how good their speaker mounts are though as I haven't seen them...

Bah, where on eBay did you get your spacers, from a private seller or a shop?
If shop, which one, how much and did they have a part number? Also, did you have to make any mods to get it to fit (I have a MY03 WRX)? Finally, how long did delviery take?
Thanks

the scooby adapters from Halfords are as good as a chocolate tea pot.
But fortunatly, the vh Corsa '93+ adapters are a perfect match, and are angled corectly as well!
