Speaker upgrades ?

Hi,
I don't know anything about car stereo systems (or should I be hip and say "ICE") but what I do know, is that my standard '98 UK spec car has CRAP speakers. They're just not up to the job, distorting etc.
I've got a Sony CDX-M700R head unit claiming to put out 4x50 (Yeah, I know, it's all RMS and not PMPO that matters..) I'm not looking for a big install, just a direct 1-1 replacement for the existing speakers (& perhaps tweeters for the door handles (they're empty at the moment))
Anyone got recommendations ?

Apparently the speaker size in front doors is 6 inch JL do some which would be a straight fit either component or coaxils (component are about £280) most others are either 5 1/4 (would need some form of baffle built fom mdf)or 6 1/2 (would need modification to metal work) im going to be fitting a set of component JL's in a couple of months when funds allow.
