Need some advice on a suitable amp to use in my Sti8, i have already changed the front speakers to JL Audio XR 650 CS (components), don't want to go the whole sub etc.. route just want to use the speakers to their best effect.

I have also already put Dynamat Xtreme on both front doors.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Simon

I am intrested in this also,

So far i have installed a Kenwood Z838W head unit, and JL Audio VR components in the front doors, oh and a disc changer under the passenger seat

What do you recomment for the rear doors, i know they dont make alot of diff, but they must make some!!!

Also what is the best location for the Amp, i assume it will be dock yard job to fit,

Sorry to jump in on this thread

How much do you want to spend? Any amp, realistically, is an improvement. Don't be drawn into spending cash on something labelled "1000W" or general crap like that...

Let us know your budget, let us know what speakers you are driving, and take it from there

To get the best out of them £400 odd components, i would recommend a similarly priced amp. i have a PG amp for sale that would run them components to their optimum.
I think no-one would disagree that this is definetaly one of the best quality amps on scoobynet especially for powering top notch comps like JL Audio.
Bought for £500 selling for only £250

I dont mind spending a couple of hundred on a amp if it makes a big diff, and sub £100 for the rear speakers,

DLS CA50 5 channel amp

Will power all 4 components plus your sub when you finally give in and buy one.

Thanks for the replies, as mentioned above i have JL Audio XR650 CS fitted in the front doors so would spend up to £500 on the right amp.
Another question, since i've already re-wired the speakers and mounted the crossovers behind the dash is there a amp. which would fit in the glove box? to save a lot of re-wiring.

Phil

Don't know if kenwood amp would fit under your seat (even though it is very compact) as i had it in the boot with no problems, and yes it will drive all four speakers.
I had it driving Infinity perfect 6.1 components at the front and Kenwood KFCPSR701 Dual Mags at the rear. Sounded sweeeet

Hi Simon, I've got my Phoenix Gold ZX450 4 channel 4x75 wrms for sale - very high quality competition grade and power amp with both high and low pass filters / xover and full control, more than the Ti series that supseeded this amp range. The specs are here. Looking for about 300, open to offers - amp in excellent condition.

I personally would tend to stay away from the amp under the front seat. Tjink about dirt and water of peoples shoes when they are in the back of your if ever. You could put the amp on an mdf board attached to your rear seats. Cheap and would still give you full use of your boot.
For the front door speakers an amp running 200wRMS would be perfect. All the top players do a nice 2 channel amp at this power rating. For sound quality and to do justice to the speakers go for Genesis.

Buy Si's amp. You cannot go wrong, IMHO. That'll also power a sub should you want to add one. Don't amp the rear speakers.

Thanks Nick.

I'll even throw in the mdf mount I made for this so it'll sit nicely on the back of the rear seats - all you have to do is screw it on the metal. It's carpeted in dark grey as well to really keep it neat with the rest of the boot.

cheers
