Question

I am planning to install some speakers into my MY00 Kenwood PSR700. They are 60mm in depth. I understand there is 50 mm of depth for the speaker to fit, unless I use spacers. I have read threads where members have made MDF platforms to increase the depth. Could I not use metal spacers? Would this affect the performance of the speakers? The reason I ask is my DIY ability is poor and I would not even attempt to start cutting up MDF. Many thanks.

I have just spoken to my alarm installer - asking the same question. Apparently the only way is mdf. You could use washers - but the resulting sound will be terrible. It is important to have a complete 'seal' around the speaker. Oh well! Nobody makes a pre made version. Apparently they used to be made.
