Hi All

Bit of advice if you would...

Just been told by an Motorsound in Northampton that the Nakamicki car stereo's are about the best around at the moment...

The one I'm looking at is the MB-75, which they have up for £700. Is this price OK? Is the stereo as good as they say? What else is around for that Dosh.

Personally I like the fact that it looks like a cheap crap stereo. That kind of appeals to me.

Cheers

Simon

Cool

I paid £700 for mine and I'm very happy with it except for 3 niggles.
1/ No pause button.
2/ 2 not very good manuals, 1 for the unit and 1 for RDS.
3/ When I have Travel Announcements turned on, the unit repeatedly scans all frequencies before returning to what I'm listening to for a few seconds, then starting off again.

However, it does sound good and, having owned autochangers in the past, the convenience is wonderful.

Martin.

Christ it would have to be good for that money !

You could (nearly) buy one of the whizzy LCD display/remotes for that !

If they are anything like the quality of the tape decks Nakka used to make it will be well worthwhile.
Anybody remember the Dragon?

Is it an in dash CD/radio or an old fashioned tape player. I remember the dragon it was impossible to tell the difference between music tape recorded onto it from a CD and the original CD.

It's a really cool in-dash 6 cd changer!!

You feed the CD's in one at a time and then have the convenience of a changer without the extra box.

The Dragon's awesome.

Especially with a tape like the TDK-MAXG

Record CD onto it and it's smoother, richer, fuller etc than the original. Superb stuff.

Anyone got an old Dragon kicking around they want to get shot of?

Sorry mate!
I went and divorced her - thankfully many years ago. Do you want her address? Might be still available

Are Boston speakers generally available? Is it the same as Boston acoustics that supply house Hi-Fi

Boston Acoustics is the full name of the car range so it is natural to make the assumption that they are the same people (but probably a division of).

Some Car Hi-Fi shops stock them, done on a dealer type basis, just find your local dealer. Saj may know more, i think that (this) is what he does?

Boston Accoustics are wicked, Nackamichi is wicked.....

If you know someone going to the US...you will be able to source the speakers much cheaper....thats what we did when we went last for a friend who wanted some for his Merc.

Either way, its all top notch gear.

I wasnt very impressed with the rip-off price charged by Motorsound decoding an old Pioneer head unit a few years back though.

Just be carefull the Boston 6.5 pro are superb but are also quite deep so a collar may have to be used, which starts degrading the sound.
