Which unit with DAB + MP3 + Single CD?
#1
I'm after a recommendation for replacement unit for my car.
I want to the above features.
I've seen the Blaupunkt Woodstock, and frankly I find the graphics very offp-putting.
Would also like ***** not buttons for controls if I had a choice.
Sure some of you experts out there have some better ideas than I do.
(Also I'm definitley not an audiophile, so cheap and cheerful is fine).

IIRC, the woodstock is the only unit yet that does all that in a single DIN enclosure - sorry.
Most blaupunkts you can turn off some of the flashing lights. Failing that, duct tape will hide the display, or install it undr the seats . . .

I was looking at one of these...but DAB is a 'control option'...i.e. you need to buy an add on.
Plays MP3's and looks nice though IMHO.. anyone got any suggestions whaat to consider instead

Craig,
I'm guessing the Rockford is not DAB - this is probably the most important feature for me as I listen to more radio than CD.
Thanks for the other advise - still keen to get the best recommendation.

Having just spoken to someone at blue-spot, they say that the woodstock is the only unit with the above features.
I'm going to get it (349 - any better prices out there? + adapter cable + DAB ariel

don't know if the Woody job is the only headunit offering all those features but consider the following.....
1. bluespot.co.uk is (I think) the consumer direct arm of Bluapunkt... so ikely to be naturally biased toward their albeit very good product.(IMHO)
2. Assuming bluespot is the official Blaupunkt retailer... it often transpires that in my experience the official retailer is not the cheapest place to buy... normally a non-affiliated mail/internet dealer can undercut.
Hope my babble helps... not confessing to be an expert just happen to be looking for a headunit myself at the mo and we seem to be after the same sort of thing.

fubar,
http://www.my-blaupunkt.com/ have the woodstock including aerial for £346. But can someone answer the following, posted elsewhere so sorry to repeat here :
Been looking at the "My-Blaupunkt" site and they are doing a deal on DAB aerials. But there seem to be several types, which appear to receive different frequencies. (Found in their multimedia-DAB section). What is the difference between these aerials and all the frequencies, L-Band, Band III, 220Mhz VHF, DAB, Band I. I'm totally confused.

Looking at the bluespot site I've answered my own question - digital radio broadcasts in europe are band III, which all the available aerials appear to receive

Houlbt. Sorry, M8, I believe you think wrong. Bluespot is not the UK arm of blaupunkt, they just found a suitable website name.
They are in fact part of "borehams", who are nothing more than a mail order company based in a strange barn-like building near Oxford airport. They also run clarionworld.co.uk and justkenwood.co.uk, all from the same barn. Therefore they should be no better or worse than any other mail order only company.

I take it FM2000 are My-Blaupuntk - was the service any good?
Service was good - they are in Maidenhead, so I popped round to pick the unit up.
Easy to fit?
Stupidly easy to fit in my 99 Impreza. Pull out old unit, unplug ISO blocks, plug in new unit, plug in aerials, refit. Ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom... 30 seconds.
Which aerial did you get and where did you fit it?
Aerial took 10 mins to install, ran cable under plastic door trims, and fitted on rear window (off side).
Going to get the remote control next.
Only issue is that dimmer not wired up, so might put the Bright switch to use to control dimmer or find a suitable lights-on power supply.

fubar,
thanks for that. i would be fitting in MY01 so the head unit bit is equally easy but you've put my mind at rest about the aerial fitting, cheers
