I know.. thats where I saw it. Bargain! :-)
I've got a Sony CD headunit just now and the CD-Text handling is a bit poo. I was wondering if the mp3 one was any better with ID3 tags and stuff like that.
Plus i've got a Sony joystick which is compatible with this headunit as well which i'd quite like to keep..
Cheers

I've just ordered the Sony one for £167 including Postage.
Sony's website lists a few more features that the MP30 has that isn't listed on MCS's site.
Should arrive tomorrow, It's got to be better than my existing CD MP3 Walkerman with a throughput tapelead

No problem, Should be arriving today (or at the very latest tomorrow). I've not a nice selection of mp3's lined to to give it a try.
I tried the demo version in Halfords and was impressed with the features (obviously they didn't have an MP3 CD to test that part), the D-Bass function sounded very good.
I'll keep you posted.

ParcelForce have gone and "mislaid" my brand new Sony Head Unit for my car.
First excuse from ParcelForce after hearing it had been signed for by "Left Behind Bin" (no relation to Bin Laden?) was that he'd acutally left it behind the bin. Load of Betty Swollocks as he would have had to have opened our gate to get to behind the bin, and nobody entered the front garden that night of the evening delivery. After they the story they gave me changed to "We left it at you next door neighbours house", again, complete lie as one side has been on holiday all week and the other has had no parcel delivered for us or left in the garden.
Now I have to wait until Tuesday for the replacement, well, It least it'll arrive before I leave on my 2 week driving holiday around the South West and Wales.
Anyone else had fun with ParcelForce?

Don't blame you.
Right, got the head unit and fitted it (no probs, 20min job), comes with clear instructions (for those who need to know).
The build quality is really good and it's unit itself is very lightweight. The removable facia is both thin and also lightweight and has some foam in it's holder to make sure it doesn't move around in the box. So far the only niggle is the display on the facia is unreable in daylight, you have to place your hand to block any light to read it.
The sound quality is also good (as you'd expect from sony), my only grip is I have a CD of MP3 music (192kbs sampling) in an unfinialised state and it took around 10-15 seconds to spin up, catalog, and start playing the first track. Maybe it's the unfinalised part that caused it to take so long. I had a good test song, Norman Bass's "How you like Bass" playing on the unit with Bass all th eway up and D-Bas set to max pumping through my JBL GTO speakers. Good reproduction of the low frequency's, except (and this might be the speakers at fault here) it started to distort as soon as I got past volume level 5 (out of 30), but it's not like I'll have the bass up that high anyway. I've also not had any skipping or stuttering when playing back mp3 or normal cd's.
There is a note at the back of the manual that as of Dec 2001 there is an issue with MP3's with an ID3v2 tag on them, they tend have a few problems (no displying correct lengh of track, issued if FF or RW'ing through a track), but I've noticed none with mine (other than FF'ing through my 192kbs MP3's seems to be very slow, only about 2-2.5x the speed of playing it)
All in all I'm impressed and it looks well lovely in it's new home.
and for £157 from MCS (when it arrived ) you can't argue.
Note: You can also buy the stalk and/or the remote control for it, and Sony's new MP3 6-CD Changer.... sounds good to me.
