Poor Radio
Hi guys
I fitted a Pioneer double DIN into my 2003 Blobeye but the radio reception is worse than shocking, barely picks up anything, any common faults or ideas?
Thanks

Did they come with one as standard mate? It had the standard stereo in it when I bought the car and only plugged the aerial in as normal, I didn't see anything else?
Unsure. Mine is a classic, it got nothing, let alone an amp
Try posting again under the title "Does my car need an antenna amplifier" in general, not enough folk come in here.
Then you'll get someone who knows the car.

mines the same, put a new radio in and can get any decent radio signal, the aerial was a tight fit, so thinking it may not be connecting up (going far enough in) so going to order an aerial amplifier and see how that goes.

I Have the same problem with my MY02. I’ve fitted a Pioneer HU and it has a power-aerial lead out. The ISO connector from the HU includes the Power-Aerial and this connects to the original HU plug (which in turn connects to the white wire (no 14 in the web link of the pin-outs). Nothing though. Zero reception.
The Power-Aerial out is definitely working from my HU end, as it has an additional connection that I use to trigger my amps to power on. So either the Power Amp is goosed or there is a break in the white wire somewhere. I might try and hook it up to another switched 12v (like the lighter). Alternatively, I believe that you can bypass the power amp at source, by removing the rear headlining and unplugging the input/output aerial leads from the power amp and simply connecting them to each other (you’ll need an adapter plug from Maplins or similar).

I'm convinced that the OEM aerial set-up will only work with the OEM headunit as I've tried everything to get FM to my Pioneer HU, I replaced the OEM aerial booster with another OEM one, replaced the coax lead from this to the HU and still nothing, I even bypassed the OEM booster and tried an aftermarket one, still nothing. In the end I gave up and fitted a glass mount DAB aerial which works very well.

Works fine in my wagon as it has an extra side window, but not recommended on rear screen with heating element, so not sure how it would fit in a saloon.
