Stereo problem
04 blob
My car came with a stereo in when I purchased it, might be a really stupid question but how do I get behind it ? It has USB ports on the back because there is an old iPhone cable leading from it to the glove box, I just want to swap the cable for the newer version, do I approach from the front and take the whole unit out or is there a way from behind ?
I've had a look from underneath the glove box but it doesn't look like my hand is going to fit into such tiny space to be able to get that old cable out Nevermind putting a new cable in
Thanks

Aftermarket stereo normally have a cage to hold them in u might need the keys to get the stereo out or if u don't have them push a knife down each side that's what I did

As sam says, you need the removal keys.
First take the surround off, the part of the dash/centre console, then pop the removal keys down each side and pull the unit out.
Different brands use different removal keys...eg Pioneers are flat cable tie like, Blaupunkt are two pointy ones..
Don't use a knife.

I must be phsychic!
I gave mine away, it was a piece of junk. So bad that the owner before
me who fitted it had to hack away a large chunk of the surround just
so it would fit and even then it wouldn't open without catching the bottom
of the surrounding fascia.
I replaced it with a lovely oem unit, it's not super duper quality
but it looks right and at £20 off the bay I am happy.
When I source a oem cd changer for the same price I will
be sorted.

I have found a fitting kit on eBay, that comes with the cage and stuff, I just want the removal keys though.
Thanks

Well I'm happy with it for now as the sat Nav does work, don't suppose anyone knows where I can get hold of removal keys/tools to remove my Xtron without ripping my car apart ?

Mine was fitted using the standard side plate jobbies so just a case
of popping off the fascia and then unscrewing and it was out.
