Fitting double din, surround needed?
Hi,
If fitting a double din stereo to a 2005 car do you need a surround (ie a plastic finisher) or is it a direct fit? If you do need a surround of some type where sells them?
Cheers

If you are buying an Xtrons unit you will need to widen the plastic surround by around 4mm on each side. I used a Dremel with a slitting disk. The Xtrons wiring harness was also useless, I ended up through crimping each cable.
That was on a 2001 JDM STI.

As long as it's a decent make I.e. Not xtron crap all you need to do is take off the mounting bracket from the original stereo and screw it on the new one.
Then you need an iso connector that is subaru to whatever make of stereo you have.
These are around a tenner from halfRauds
Then it's plug and play.
Only other issue is providing a 12v feed to the aerial booster but this Won't apply on spec c as it has roof mounted aerial
