Question Dodgy Head Unit?

Hi guys,

I've recently fitted a second hand head unit from a trader on these forums and am having problems with it...(Kenwood dpx405bt).

Several times now, it has failed to power on when the engine is started. It will come on initially on the first stage but as soon as the car is deimmobilsed/engine started the HU powers off.

The only way to get it to power up is to unplug it and plug it in again. I have to go over all the settings again and as you can imagine this is rather irritating.

Any ideas folks?

Check you have the constant battery live and the ignition switched live wires the right way round.

The red and yellow wire's coming from the headunit to the Subaru ISO lead, they should be as follow's due to the polarity

RED TO YELLOW
YELLOW TO RED

They should have bullet connector's already there as it's common for overseas brands to have reverse polarity

If not just cut the 2 wire's, 2 male on 1 side and 2 female bullet connector's on the other, switch over as above. Should be all okay

Switched them around but the head unit resets every time it's switched off.
