Having visited a couple of ICE installers during lunch, I'm even more confused now. One told me my only option was a pair of £70 Pioneer 16cm speakers and I should just run them off my Headunit

The next installer reckons that some DLS speakers would work well, although they didn't have any that I could listen too.

Anyone heard of this manufacturer (swedish I think)? and are they any good?

Stefan. I have a pair of theirs. They where good but I hear the importers(Genesis) have stopped selling them as the quality started to get bad. If they are the older models BUY them. they are realy good. The "pro" series are out of this world.

The new "Jensen" speakers are ment to be good.

I was quoted around £150 for the speakers, so guess they're not the same models as those on Car Audio Direct's site

Funnily enough, Genesis started to say "no" to DLS when DLS started making their own amps.

DLS make good stuff IMHO.

 

Yep the chiark man is never wrong (well most of the time hehe) i agree DLS offer quality products.

Get your self a pair then if there is not drop in quality.I will keep mine for as long as they last.

Thought DLS made amps years ago???????? Remember seeeing them in the States way before I bought my speakers. Got them from" SOund Gallery" a great place for top spec stuff.They dont look that fancy but sound great. The tweeters are fantastic .

Dont buy the JL components... Tweeters will kill your ears!!

DLS are very good, and Genesis stopped importing them when:
ALS amps started to be imported by someone else.
B:Genesis started developing their own speakers

1. chiark is by no means never wrong - disagree

2. he is right that dls stuff is really quite nice - but the synical view about dls making amps is apparently bang on from what I have heard.

 

The DLS speakers I heard a couple of years back sounded pretty good - not cheap, but were in the same sort of area as Focal/Dyn for sound quality IIRC.

 

Remember Genesis have their own speakers coming out soon

And you lot heard it here first a few months ago..Even befor the press !!
