Default Subaru specific Catch Cans

Hi All,

I have recently had a catch can made for for track car build. I had done the same previously for my race car as the general market forgets about us Subaru boys needing 3 inlets rather than just 1 or 2. I am sure you have seen the RCM ones at £175+ !

It's certainly not cheap to get one made to the standard I wanted, however I was chatting with my supplier and he said he would be more than happy to do a batch at reduced costs if I would handle everything.

So spec is a 1 litre can with three 10mm inlets and one 25mm outlet. And a drain plug

We all know what the benefits are I am sure by getting rid of engine vapour, reducing crankcase pressure and by removing that vapour your not reducing the octane value of your fuel.

Heres a few pics of the one I have now unfitted.

Here's a pic of my other one I fitted on the passenger side suspension turret where it fits very neatly

And how much you call

Well for 5 it will be £69 each delivered. If we get 10 then just £65 delivered. Now not the cheapest out there for sure, have your £30-£40 ebay special with just 2 same size inlet/outlets if you want but these work far better I have run the whole of last season with one of these, generally with that hard drag/track use I would empty after every session to be sure. On the road these will take an age to fill.

So pop your names down and lets see if we can get enough

Agreed I had a little 2 inlet/outlet can years ago and you had to T 3 pipes to 1 and then have the one outlet for the breather. Was a total waste of time on an Impreza. The 3 inlet can works perfectly as both heads and central breather all have there own pipes to the can.

I expect the GB to take 2 to 3 weeks dependent on take up.

Okay pricing including pipework, so now 2 options

Can only - £69
Can with 2.5 metres of inlet pipework and 1 metre of the larger vent pipework - £79

If over 10 orders this reduces to £65 and £75 respectively

Let me know what you think or get your names down

Just to throw something else in the mix for the big power boys. What would be the odds of having the drain made bigger to say -10 so it could be used as a drain back to the sump?

...and/or a fitting provided instead to allow a remote drain tap to be located somewhere convenient maybe?

Dumb question - does the can vent to atmosphere (through a filter) or does it go back to the intake?

Just vents to atmosphere. I have my pipe pointing down cable tied near the bulkhead.

If there is demand then we could look at a further fitting to drain back to the sump. However this is only really required for serious track use. I have never bothered with this on mine I just empty regularly, as you then have the hassle of taking the sump off to ut a fitting on etc etc. Overkill for most imo.

I'm in... since running without BOV and also solid inlet tract I've been in need of an oil catch tank and this is exactly what the doctor ordered!

100% I'm down for a tank and pipes!

1) Tim Hardisty (with pipes)
2) RA Dunk (with pipes)
3) Defo down for 1, possibly have a friend who may want 1 (no pipes)
4) alex_00s (with pipes)

ps: do you have the means or contacts to supply these anodised or powder coated (red/blue)?

If anyone else want a drain let me know what size you want it and I will enquire.

Clive I am looking to drain back to the passenger side head, so would also be interested in a standard size return.

What is the actual drain fitting as "standard" on this unit? It's difficult to work it out from the picture
