Default Brake pads

Spoke to Alyn at AS Performance this morning to sort out some brake pads and enquired if he would be interested in a group buy. The upshot is he is interested in a group buy for Performance friction pads or Ferrodo DS2500's and DS3000. I havnt got any specifics on prices as I assume it would depend on initial interest. If anyone is interest add your name and if it looks viable we can take it from there.

Whats best for normal day to day driving plus the odd spirited blast, no track days. I read that the PF's are known to leave small deposits of metal or some material on the paintwork ? Hence my decision on the DS2500's. Currently got Pagid Black 4-2-1 in.

Thanks,

Andy.

Thanks Bob had'nt checked the list today but knew they were'nt available for the Subaru front 4 pots and rear 2 pots.

I used the Ferrodo DS2500 front and back on my Sprint and Hill Climb RA last year with standard newage 4 pots on the front and newage 2 pots on the rear and found them to be excellent. I have put the DS2500's on the rear of my road car now and have Endless racing pads on the front of the road car (Blobeye WRX). The brakes are very effective with this set up. I used the Endless racing pads as Alyn had some surplus stock at a very good price a while back and he commeneted that they were every bit as good as the DS2500's and have to be honest I cant argue. I had standard Subaru front pads on before and the difference between them and the Endless racing pads was a bit of a surprise. I had thought for a while that the brakes were rubbish on the road car but changing the front and rear pads made a massive difference.

Alyn has recommended the PF Z rated pads to me for the race RA as they work very effectively from cold and are very effective on the Brembo set up. No idea about any deposits etc not really an issue for me but I know there are plenty of people using them on road cars.

I have sent the list to Alyn so will try and get some prices etc asap so that everyone can decide if they want to proceed

Hi Arch,

Please take me off the list then mate; I've had Ferodo DS2500's before on the front, not quite enough bite for me, hence I've switched to Yellow Stuff up front.

Cheers anyway! All the best with the GB.

try the Ds3000 then Bugeye. more bite but you'll get more disc wear too.

Edited as I forgot to put my username in the list.
Not totally sure of the advantages of one pad over another for everyday fast road use (+ occasional trackday) Some solid recommendations would be welcome.
