Default Saber EDV Group Buy -Gauging Interest

Hi Guys and Girl,

I had a Saber EDV (Version 1 ) fitted a few months ago, but the speaker has given up. (This is no refelection on Saber - it was cable tied to the inlet manifold - £20 wasted on a cowboy installer!! ).

Anyway Saber now have a version 2, which is smaller and gives a louder PSSSSST sound and the speaker is smaller, so less problems trying to fit.

For those of you who dont know what a Saber EDV is take a look here.

The Saber EDV Electronic Dump Valve Simulator - Saber-edv.com - Home

Here are some of the testimonials:

"recenlty bought the Saber-EDV V2 and has improved to the V1 which is seen in the DEMO video. Better more realistic dump sound and the unit is half the size of the older version! I have fitted this to a Clio 1.2! Boy is it alot of FUN to have. Unlike others i have added another switch on the dash and can activate it by hand when i want! Well worth the money and attracts attention on the road! "

"ive recently fitted this "fake" dumpvalve on my nissan sunny, and i pulled because my new girlfriend thinks i have a turbo, but i really dont know whether to tell her the truth. i would recommend it guys it works!"

"I think it's well smart. I got one to fit onto my Corsa Merit and it just transformed the car! All the people I pass, think I've got a Calibra Turbo conversion or something now! I pulled up with some lads alongside in a Clio 182 and after accelerating and they heard this, they turned to look at me and backed off! Mental kit - one that I cannot recommend highly enough if you want to sound cool... "

"Everytime i hear the noise it makes me scream which is all gd. i think this is the best invention ever!"

The retail price from Saber is £149.00 inc Vat. I have spoken to a supplier, who is happy to do them for £125 inc Vat and delivery (UK)if we get 10 orders or more. There is also an upgrade path for all of you who have a Version 1 and would like the higher sound output of the version 2- Im awaiting on a discount price for this.

You will have to fit yourself, as I cannot recommend anyone. A decent Auto Electricial should be able to do this.(If anyone can recommend a fitter or can fit mine in east london, let me know - dont want to pay over the top again)

Gauging Interest at this point. They do work , and the version 2 is 130Db.
(Do not operate it within 5 ft of your ear with the bonnet open)

Sy.

No Offence taken, but its all abount noise, the same with Turbo cars, a recirculating dump valve does the same job but no noise , so people go for ones with trumpets on, the more noise they make the more resrictive they are, thats how they make the noise, it the air going through smaller holes. So why is making noise for no gain in performance the preserve of turbo engined cars?

EDV do not impact your insurance, VTA dump valves do.

so your saying people are willing to pay £145 to pretend they have a dump valve ? wouldnt they be better off putting the money towards a turbo or insurance ?

I was quoted £2500 for 3rd party only as ive have a few crashes - in a couple of years insurance will be cheaper, and I will have saved for a turbo classic. So in the mean time a EDV does the same as aVTA dump valve.

Ive seen lots of GL imprezas with turbo front bumpers on ebay, so i cant be the only one in this situation.

God help us.....

And if you fit it you will need to declare it to your insurers, its a modification, and like say a turbo bodykit conversion on a sport may fool people into thinking its a turbo and thus increase the risk of theft.....

Saber Techncal Support on there website say it does not affect your insurance - I have a GL with FOX 17's on - do I need to declare these as well?

Mark - your obviously not technically minded.

Saber EDV does nothing to the cars performance.

Turbonator does and can move you up 3 insurance groups - thats why I had mine professionally taken off - sold it on ebay and recouped 65% of the original cost BTW.

if i fitted 2 of these to my car, would it give me twice the loudness bov noise? (260db)

and would i be able to set them up so it will make a double dump sound?

i can help you fit yours if you want?

this sounds like the best group buy going at the mo, anyone else agree?

Im no sound expert, but I think if they are 130Db fitting 2 would not double the sound.

I supose you could fire one when you come off full throttle and the other when the break lites go off and you go back on the gas. But then people would no it was a fake and no a proper turbo i guess.

Where r u based - would apreceate help fitting - if the group buy doenset get off the ground, I will bit the bullett and get one for £130.

Yes two would double the sound to 133 dB !

Education would be a marvelous tool !

LOL

DunxC

P.S. I'm developing a "double-dump" modification, should be around the £70 mark fitted with a year's guarantee....

Me mate Barry rekons im the most metal drver hes ever been with!!

Ian, they will fit any car with 12v. I had problems with my version 1 finding a space, but the version 2 the speaker is smaller. If you have ABS, I rekon thers a few things in that you could cable tie it to.

I've heard all about your mate Barry and if he thinks you are mental I'm surprised I survived!

Will it be OK to hang it off these green metal tube things...they look pretty strong.

Yes, thats it. If you cable tie it both sides it will look preety OEM - not sure how to hide the wires. If you angle it down - I guess you will get more sound.

thanks for confirming Sy, I don't want to **** this install up...maybe if I aim the speaker at the little gap between the bottom of the headlight and bumper I can optimise the sound delivery

Extension leads available now !

Fitted into your Scooby scoop blocking the air flow to the turbo, running the turbo hotter will increase performance even more !

DunxC

P.S. Sorry Webby deleted my ebay links....
