Cool

Had an email back from Carl :

Hi Jason,

It's no problem to arrange a group buy for those parts although it's hard to give big discounts as (please excuse the sob story) my margins are already pretty small. I'll do my best however.

I could do the Head Tank Insulators alone at the following prices:

10 sets - £12.50 including PayPal fees & Recorded Delivery (17% discount)
20 sets - £10.00 including PayPal fees & Recorded Delivery (33% discount)

For those wanting to order the Insulating Manifold Spacers with the Head Tank Insulators i could do the following prices:

5 sets - £75.00 including PayPal fees & Recorded Delivery (12% discount)
10 sets - £70.00 including PayPal fees & Recorded Delivery (18% discount, effectively a free pair of Head Tank Insulators with each pair of spacers)

I've just done a quick stock check and i have 21 sets of Head Tank Insulators, 9 pairs of Phase 2 Insulating Inlet Manifold Spacers and 3 pairs of Phase 1 Insulating Inlet Manifold Spacers. I can have more Insulating Inlet Manifold Spacers cut reasonably quickly but the Head Tank Insulators are a little more involved so i'd like to limit them to a maximum of 20 sets to avoid delays.

Best Regards
Carl Davey

Carls away from the 18th for two weeks, so we can either run this for a week or run for 3 weeks ending on the 1st August when he'll be back onshore..

So I'm starting a list and we'll see how it goes:

1. Jasonius: header insulators 05 wrx
2. Merv: header insulators
3. sob: header insulators
4. DaOne: header insulators
5. silent running: header insulators
6. P1prodrive: header and manifold insulators (ver ???)
7. unfeasablylargegonads: header insulators
8. Banny Sti: header insulators
9. Jay m A: header insulators and manifold spacers - V1
10. 360ste: header insulators
11. Granby: header insulators
12. satpink: manifold spacers & header tank spacers v4 sti

EVERYONE, can you just check this list to make sure it's correct..?

P1prodrive: I think we'll need to know which scoob you have for manifold insulators..

Finally, how long do we run this for..? It's either done and dusted by the 18th or else it'll have to be the 1st August..

Thanks,
Jason

I'm for letting it run 3 weeks, but then again I don't need them tomorrow, others may think different!

I need them asap so I'd say the 18th. I'm down correctly on the list, just a set of header tank spacers for me. Do we contact Carl ourselves quoting this GB, or is there a different way?

13. Mother Theresa header: insulators

Personally I'd rather have them sooner, although ultimately I'm not that bothered either way.

I've emailed Carl for cut of dates, as he actually goes offshore on the 18th so it needs to be done and dusted before then, meaning we have at most 2-3 days before we close. It may be better to wait until the 1st August..?

How about we see how many more come in over the next 24hrs and then decside..?

ATM we have 13x header and 4x manifold so not that far away from the x20 & x5 figure..

If there is anyone you know who may be interested, PM them, we could easily get x20/x5 and still end it this week..! I can think of a few, so I'll try and drum up some more takers..

It's definitely looking good to go though..

Getting there and fast..!

We'd need to get payment to Carl no later that midday on Monday (16th July) if we want it wrapped up this week.

Also, he currently only has x20 sets of header insulators in stock, meaning it'll be sometime before he can get some more made up. So it's first come first served..!

Roll up, roll up..!

call me simple, oi,simple, but surely this product is pure ****, i mean, the heat alone of the engine is enough to outweigh moving the header tank ???

surely the heat from the header tank will transfer thru the brackets anyway ???

if the outside temp is up a degree or 2,then surely this method is futile ???

I have just noticed that the header insulators are listed for 92-02 cars.

Will they fit later models?

The header tank does transmit a LOT of heat to the o/s bank inlet manifold. If you feel the inlet manifold immediately after a spirited run you'll notice the OS is significantly hotter than the NS. Now some of this is due to the proximity of the turbo, however, people who've done this mod (see link below post #5.. have noticed a significant difference.

As the best say: every bit helps..
